Brendan Tendeck

Owner/ Strength and Conditioning Coach

As the Founder of SHIFT Sports Performance, a Calgary-based company, I focus on strength and conditioning, skill development, and team performance. My background as a former hockey player and boxer has shaped my training philosophy, emphasizing discipline, growth, and building confidence in athletes. I grew up playing AA and AAA for NWCAA and landed myself a spot at a WHL Main Camp. My passion for hockey and fitness continues to grow and thats why I created SHIFT and am still a dedicated hockey coach. I combine technical knowledge with strong leadership and communication skills. I am committed to driving results and fostering positive change in the athletic and fitness community while continually advancing my professional growth.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

People First.
Athletes Second.

Before the reps, the drills, and the results, there’s a person, and that’s where SHIFT starts. Coach Brendan Tendeck built this program on one belief: take care of the person, and the athlete takes care of itself. Confidence, work ethic, and how you show up when it’s hard don’t stay in the gym; they follow you onto the ice and into everything else. Train here, and you’ll get stronger and faster, but you’ll also walk out a sharper competitor and a better teammate. That order matters to us, and it’s the difference you’ll feel.

Character First

Everything is built on who you are, not just what you can do. We coach the habits that hold up under pressure — accountability, focus, and the confidence to compete without fear of failing. Get these right and the athletic gains stick.

Strength & Conditioning

The physical base every athlete is built on. Dry-land work that develops real strength, explosive power, and the conditioning to be just as dangerous in the third period as the first. Programming is matched to your age, position, and where you're at — never one-size-fits-all.

Skill Development

Sharpening the tools that show up in the game. Focused work on the details that separate players, trained until they hold up at game speed and under contact. You leave each session with something you can actually use next time you compete.

Compete

Talent gets you noticed; compete level keeps you on the ice. We push you to bring effort, edge, and consistency every session, so battling hard becomes your default — not something you switch on for big games. This is the pillar that turns training into results.
